Fresh Manitoba Eggs Come to the Market
Meet the Vendor
Did You Know ...
Market Opens June 5th!
Spring is here, and it's time for the fresh taste of local produce. Join us on Saturday, June 5th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, and tell your taste buds to get ready for some real Manitoba flavour! We'll start the season off with a family-sized bang! At 10 am, we'll cut the ribbon on the 2010 season with local food fun, followed at 10:30 with a live magic show by entertainer Ryan Price, clowns, free face painting and balloon animals. Then in the afternoon, it's time to get ready to learn how to grow your own mushrooms, right in your back yard!
Manitoba's mushroom expert Ken Fosty will teach you how to 'plant' the mushroom spawn and grow your own Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms on oak and poplar logs. It's a biological process you'll love - growing your own mushrooms backyard-style. Mushroom Grow Kits will be available for sale following the hands-on presentation.
Market 2010 hours are:
Saturdays, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm from June 5 to October 30.
Canada Day, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
Wednesdays, July, August and September, Noon to 6:00 pm

Q: How many family members attend the market to help you at your booth?
A: My wife and I are always there, and 2 or 3 of our six daughters help us each week at the market.
Q: What's your favourite thing about the market?
A: My favourite thing at the market is meeting the many people and visiting with them. Making many new friends!
Q: Sometimes as a vendor, you're at the market for the whole day in some very cold or wet weather. What helps you get through those days?
A: Chatting with my fellow vendors and spending time chatting with the regulars (that faithfully come rain or shine)!
Q: What's your favourite thing to do when you're NOT at the market?
A: Just going for a ride and ending up at a soft ice cream joint!
| Donna Schulz, from Winnipeg, has also attended the market since 2005. She makes handcrafted soaps and spa salts, with many wonderful, unique scents. She grows her own herbs, and uses organic oils. There are no preservatives, dyes, perfumes or chemicals in her soaps. | ![]() |

Q: What's your favourite thing about the market?
A: I have so many favorite things about the market: the great people, the awesome shopping, the market's vibe, and the food!!!
Q: Sometimes as a vendor, you're at the market for the whole day in some very cold or wet weather. What helps you get through those days?
A: Yes, sometimes its raining, windy and cold, but, hey, what does not kill you makes a great story for later. We have the "wall" up in the stall and drink lots of coffee and tea, dress in lots of layers, and start up a heater.
Q: What's your favourite thing to do when you're NOT at the market?
A: When I am not being a vendor at the market, I love to shop at the market!
